Application for financial support from the Qualification Fund for a Research Stay (Doctoral Candidates)


Dear Applicant,

With this digital form you can apply as a doctoral candidate of Leuphana (incl. Doctoral Track students) for financial support for an (inter-)national research stay.

Please read this page and the funding guidelines for the Qualification Funds carefully before you start filling in the digital application form.

You can find the guidelines and information on the general and measure-specific eligibility criteria and answers to frequently asked questions in the Qualification Funds website: www.leuphana.de/qualification-fund

Please note that you cannot save an intermediate status of the digital form.

Therefore, before you start filling in the digital form, have the following documents ready as pdf files so that you can upload them at the end of the digital form:

  • A copy of the supervision agreement or an alternative proof showing the (working) title of the dissertation
  • an explanation of the necessity of the stay, including aconfirmation of the first supervisor
  • a copy of the invitation from the university, research centre or comparable institution* stating the duration of the stay

If you do not currently have any of the above documents, you can submit them by e-mail (gradschool.qf@leuphana.de). You will receive further information about this from us by e-mail after you have submitted your application via this system.

Your application will only be deemed to have been submitted once the receipt has been confirmed to you by e-mail.

*Note:
An institution comparable is an organisationally independent body whose primary purpose is scientific research, the generation, development or dissemination of knowledge, or the promotion of scientific and technological innovation on a non-profit basis; it conducts its activities in accordance with recognised scientific or research-related standards and employs scientific or science-related staff.

Typical institutions include:

  • Non-university research organisations (Max Planck Society, Helmholtz Association, Fraunhofer Society, Leibniz Association)
  • Scientific academies
  • State research institutions
  • Technology or innovation centres conducting independent research
  • Scientific foundations conducting their own research
  • Museums with integrated independent research (typically natural history museums or archaeological collections, frequently art history museums; museums dedicated solely to exhibitions are not included)
